The Four Friends and the Hunter | Panchtantra stories

In a jungle, a deer, crow, and mouse welcome a turtle who becomes trapped by a hunter. The friends plan a rescue and use their wits to outsmart the hunter and free the turtle. The story highlights the importance of friendship, teamwork, and cleverness.

Once upon a time, in a jungle, there were three friends: a deer, a crow, and a mouse. They shared their meals together and enjoyed each other's company. One day, a lonely turtle approached them and asked to join their group. The friends welcomed the turtle, but they were concerned about his safety in the jungle, especially with hunters lurking around.

As luck would have it, a hunter appeared, and the deer ran away, the crow flew into the sky, and the mouse ran into a hole. The turtle tried to escape but was caught in a net by the hunter. The friends were worried and came together to plan a rescue.

The crow flew high and spotted the hunter walking along the river bank. The deer lay on the hunter's path, pretending to be dead. The hunter thought he had found his prey and put the turtle on the ground to capture the deer.

While the hunter was distracted, the mouse gnawed through the net and freed the turtle, who quickly crawled away to safety in the river. The hunter was surprised to find the deer suddenly spring up and run away, and the turtle missing from the snare.

The hunter got scared and ran out of the jungle, leaving the friends to live happily ever after.

Moral of this story: True friends stick together in good times and bad. They support and help each other, even in the face of danger or adversity. The story also teaches us that teamwork and cleverness can overcome even the most challenging situations. Finally, it shows us that sometimes, it is better to outsmart your opponents rather than fight them directly.
